Cool Facts- The Mata Mata is one of the world’s strangest turtles. With a triangular head and relatively flat carapace, they are able to squeeze into places they frankly have no business being in. They tend to live in calm, slow moving water in streams and marshes. Preferring shallow water, they are relatively motionless in the water as they wait for their food to come to them. When a fish comes close, Mata Mata open their mouth wide and create a vacuum that suck their prey directly into their mouth. While captive bred individuals are able to be bought as an exotic pet, wild caught individuals are highly protected.
Rating- 12/10 (Arrow-headed turtle will point you to the treasure.)
